Scheduled flights to Turkey held regularly

TEHRAN, Aug. 02 (MNA) – An official at Civil Aviation Organization of Iran (CAOI) said airliners are allowed to sell scheduled flights from Iran to Turkey via their websites.

Reza Jafarzadeh, Head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization public relations office, made the remarks on Tuesday morning emphasizing that only those travel agencies who have the state permission to sell tickets for domestic and foreign flights can sell scheduled tickets to Turkey.

The official also noted that following the attempted military coup in Turkey on July 15, Iran’s flight to the neighboring country were cancelled due to security reasons; “the two countries’ aviation agencies later resumed the scheduled flights since the coup had failed.”

Following recent movements in Turkey and the consequent insecurities as well as statements issued by diplomatic and consular representative of Iran in the country of destination, Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) put out an announcement calling on travel and tourism agencies to strictly refrain from registration and sending tourists to Turkey until further notice and before the restoration of security and peace to the neighboring country.

Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Rıza Hakan Tekin attended a press conference at Turkey's Embassy last week in Tehran and called on Iran to remove the ban on travel of Iranian tourists to Turkey.

The ambassador also appreciated Iran's stance on the failed coup attempt in Turkey.
